Wrist Pain

I was struggling recently with writing and being social and oh so many other things, and then I did something to my wrist. Probably just typed too much and used my mouse wrong or something, but I am now wearing a wrist brace and going to physical therapy. Two weeks in, and I'm finally feeling comfortable enough to type. For a while at least. I even powered through and wrote a fic yesterday because inspiration hit me over the head and then fireworks kept me awake far too late! But I'm still so damn frustrated by the number of typos I make and how tired my arm and hand feel after typing for any length of time. In fact, I'm going to have to end this post soon because of it.

On a happier note though, while coming up with a title for my fic I dug deep into the music archives looking for appropriate songs released in 1989 (and then didn't use any of them), and it has been great. Some very early Nine Inch Nails, a less popular Soundgarden album, and some really classic Bowie. It was fun.

Addendum: I just looked at my previous other post and laughed because I apparently can correlate when I post to Dreamwidth with when I pick up my french horn. Just played again a few days ago for the first time since April.

First post

So, I got all excited about Dreamwidth and set everything up and read some post and then... lost steam. I'm still excited, but my energy dropped to the point where I haven't really created anything in a while because I just cannot summon the focus and enthusiasm at the same time.

But what I have seen of Dreamwidth seems really cool and takes me back to the LJ days, so I have promised myself that I will get the hang of this.

While I have not had the energy for creation recently, there have been two unusual bright spots: I picked up my French horn to play for the first time in over a year, and I've been reading constantly. I forget how much I love playing horn when I don't have a regular reason to practice, but over the next few months I want to get back into the swing of things and maybe do some chamber music. As for reading, my partner suggested a reread and then rewatch of The Hunger Games, which sent me down a rabbit hole of nostalgic YA. Additionally, I've been having thoughts about how to write some crow!John McShep fic, so I of course had to reread Tamora Pierce's Trickster's Choice, which meant I had to read all the Tortall books leading up to there, and now I have to read everything else by her again and also while I'm at it apparently I'm going to hop over and reread a bunch of Garth Nix and then today my eye was caught by some Naomi Novik, so I might have to reread all of her books too.

All this to say: I have been distracted and will continue to be distracted, but this seems like a cool place to talk about things (and post fic and fic recs), and I'm looking forward to figuring it out.
